“Most of us have start dates, so we can say we’re on day 20 or day 30,” Davis says. When she and I spoke by phone, she was on day 50 of experiencing symptoms.

“The things that were sort of being dismissed out of hand a month ago” are now being validated.

“We are in a liminal state,” Berrent, the founder of Survivor Corps, says. In addition to wondering when (or if) her energy levels will rebound or her vision will return to normal, she’s also worried about the implications for her children, who were also infected. “It’s so unnerving to not know what the long-term consequences are,” she says.
