The transgender advocate and YouTube star doesn’t believe in deprivation

Social media maven and LGBTQ advocate Gigi Gorgeous got her start in 2008, when she began uploading beauty tutorials to YouTube, garnering a following of more than 2.7 million subscribers. In 2013, she shared with her followers that she was transgender. Since then, she’s used social media to talk openly about her gender identity and has parlayed her following into a successful career, including a 2017 documentary on her transition.
Her upcoming memoir, titled He Said, She Said: Lessons, Stories, and Mistakes from My Transgender Journey, will be released in April 2019. Of artistic note, her book cover features a gradient background of baby pink and baby blue, the colors of the transgender flag.
Gigi Gorgeous spoke to Medium about her daily routines, wedding planning (she’s marrying artist and designer Nats Getty), and her memoir-writing process.
